MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641125911 A) filed by Christ University on October 22, 2026, for A Selective-Infusion Dosing Cap For Beverage Bottles And A Method Thereof.

Inventor includes Prithviraj Ghosh.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: A selective-infusion dosing cap for a beverage bottle is disclosed, operable in two independent modes. In the normal mode, the cap is removed from the bottle neck by an ordinary twisting action, its internal dosing mechanism remaining entirely unengaged, so that the closure behaves exactly like a conventional bottle cap. In the infusion mode, a user depresses a spring-biased push button and, while continuing to hold it down, rotates the cap, thereby driving a collar, detent and cam member that converts the rotation into a linear advance of a plunger carrying a puncturing spike. The spike penetrates a frangible foil seal closing a sealed dose chamber holding a predetermined volume of liquid concentrate, whereupon a one way duckbill valve at the outlet of the chamber opens under the weight of the released liquid and discharges the complete dose into the bottle in a single, metered, all-or-nothing event. A flexible membrane at a viewing window in the cap permanently inverts upon actuation, giving the user a persistent, tamper-evident indication that the dose has already been administered. The dosing components together form a self-contained sub-assembly that is mechanically isolated from the screw thread engagement between the cap and the bottle neck, so that ordinary opening and closing of the bottle never disturbs or actuates the dosing mechanism. The invention thus provides a beverage closure that functions as an entirely ordinary cap for normal drinking, while offering a deliberate, safe and precisely metered means of infusing an additive into the beverage at the point of consumption.
