Abstract: The present invention discloses a seating apparatus (100) configured to assist during sit-to stand transitions and vice versa. The seating apparatus (100) comprises a support frame (102), a seat assembly including a seat (104) pivotally mounted about a first axis of rotation (106-1), and a backrest (108) attached to the seat assembly. The seating apparatus (100) further includes an actuating mechanism operatively coupled to the support frame (102) and the seat assembly, wherein actuation of the actuating mechanism causes rotation of the seat assembly to induce movement. The actuating mechanism may comprise a foot-operated lever assembly including a pair of foot lever arms (110) and a footrest member (112), and/or an armrest assembly configured to generate a lifting moment upon application of force.
