Abstract: The world continues to rely on power in many things, portable ones in particular, which has further drawn out the research and development of solar powered consumer products. But, standard solar cells tend to be fragile, massive, and rigid that is extremely difficult and prone to break whenever its shape has to be altered. Here, it is proposed a flexible umbrella canopy powered by solar energy generated from OPV solar threads embedded into textile materials.High-strength polyester threads with the conventional ones by using textile weaving process are being produced. These solar threads then encapsulated into the hydrophobic (water repellent) coatings to survive with rain or dampness along with ensuring it also waterproof as what an umbrella is intended for. Meanwhile, by using an integrated structure and also within stitching lines in order to eliminate the potential exposure, flexible conductors, which were called as bus bars were embedded to carry safely the accumulated electrical energy and this approach makes these bus bars resistant for continuously opening and closing or folding a typical umbrella. Thus, these umbrella canopy prototype is designed to be waterproof, extremely light, flexible and also durable as well as provides electrical power generation. Also there is no need to affix the current solar cells into the body of an umbrella
