MUMBAI, India, July 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202622058194 A) filed by Venkata Sai Pavan Choudary Kolli on May 07, 2026, for A Scalable Cathode And Method Of Preparation Thereof.

Inventor includes Karthik Kiran Sarigamala.

The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.

Abstract: The present invention provides a dual ion water-in-salt hybrid electrolyte composition and a low-cost scalable cathode for zinc ion battery. The cathode is fabricated from commercially available V2O5 and oxidizing agent. Additionally, a dual-ion water-in-salt hybrid electrolyte composition comprises zinc salt, lithium salt, co- solvent and water. This electrolyte, comprising co-solvent and water, supports stable cycling and excellent Zn plating/stripping behaviour, maintaining performance for over 1986 hours in Zn symmetric cells at a current density of 2 mA cm-2. Furthermore, the zinc-ion battery demonstrates exceptional cycling life, with Coulombic efficiency (CE) sustaining over 10000 cycles when the electrolyte composition is optimized with a 50:50 water:co-solvent ratio. These advancements result in a zinc- ion battery with improved stability, efficiency, and long-term cycling performance, making it suitable for practical energy storage applications.
