MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611093713 A) filed by Manipal University Jaipur on August 03, 2026, for A Reversible Confidence-Decay Arbitration Of Elevator Hall Calls (call-Validity Arbitration Engine — Cvae).
Inventors include Dr. Amit Garg; Devansh Chowdhary; and Dr. Amit Kumar Chaturvedi.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a hall-call arbitration system and method for elevators that intelligently validates hall calls using sensor-derived occupancy and movement information. The system comprises receiving presence and position data through one or more heterogeneous sensor adapters and computing a time-decaying presence-confidence score together with a directional intent score representing passenger movement toward an elevator door. These scores are combined into a composite validity score that controls a state machine configured to transition a hall call between active, hold, and cancelled states based on configurable thresholds and a bounded timeout, while allowing restoration of a held call upon recovery of the validity score. An advisory output interface transmits a dispatch-priority signal to an elevator group controller while remaining structurally isolated from the certified safety-relevant stop-command path. The invention reduces false hall calls, improves dispatch efficiency, supports heterogeneous sensors and privacy-preserving edge processing, and enhances passenger service without compromising elevator safety or requiring modifications to safety-critical control functions.
