MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641099279 A) filed by Pallapati Paul Suhaas; and Pallapati Suhasini on August 17, 2026, for A Rear Underrun Protection Device With Controlled Impact Absorption For Vehicles And Method Thereof.
Inventors include Pallapati Paul Suhaas; and Pallapati Suhasini.
The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure proposes a rear underrun protection device (100) for heavy vehicles that provides controlled impact absorption and rebound prevention during rear-end collision conditions through guided displacement and post-impact movement restriction, thereby reducing collision impact transfer, minimizing rear underrun hazards, improving passenger safety, and enhancing structural protection during vehicular impact conditions. The rear underrun protection device (100) comprises a primary member (102), a secondary member (104), plurality of shaft members (108), plurality of guide members (112), and plurality of locking assemblies (116). The rear underrun protection device (100) reduces underride hazards during rear-end collision conditions through controlled impact absorption. The rear underrun protection device (100) absorbs collision energy progressively for reducing sudden deceleration and minimizing passenger injury risks during impact conditions. The rear underrun protection device (100) protects shaft members (108) against bending, misalignment, and breakage during edge collision conditions.
