Abstract: A PROTECTIVE MEMBER OF A BATTERY PACK FOR A VEHICLE AND A BATTERY PACK THEREOF The present disclosure discloses a protective member (100) of a battery pack (200) for a vehicle. The protective member (100) includes an enclosure (1) connectable to the battery pack (200) and defining a clearance (C) therebetween. The enclosure (1) is configured to define a space (3) to receive and contain a non-Newtonian fluid (8). The protective member includes at least one reinforcing member (4) defined with a stress concentration portion (41c), wherein the non-Newtonian fluid in the enclosure (1) is configured absorb impact forces on the vehicle from being transmitted to the battery pack (200). In response to such absorption of impact by the non-Newtonian fluid, the at least one reinforcing member (4) is adapted to either deform or fail at the stress concentration portion (41c) to protect the battery pack (200). With such configuration, the protective member may automatically absorb forces from external impact, and rupture of batteries and/or thermal runaway of a battery pack due to external impact may be minimized or eliminated.
