Abstract: The present invention relates to a proprietary readability scoring and adaptive comprehension assessment system(100). The present invention includes a main computing device(102) and a user interface device(108). The main computing device(102) includes a database(104) and a processor(106). The database(104) includes a multi-dimensional readability scoring framework and an adaptive reading comprehension assessment framework. The multi-dimensional readability scoring framework evaluates complexity of English texts and includes a structural readability component module, a lexical difficulty component module, a syntactic complexity component module and a context adaptation module. The structural readability component module evaluates surface-level features of text. The lexical difficulty component module measures vocabulary complexity including frequency of uncommon words. The syntactic complexity component module evaluates the structural organization of sentences. The system(100) employs a statistically derived weighted aggregation model for combining multiple linguistic dimensions including structural readability component module, lexical difficulty component module and syntactic complexity component module to produce readability score.
