Abstract: TITLE: A PROCESS OF PREPARING MULTI-COMPARTMENT MUCOADHESIVE HYDROGEL FOR ORAL APPLICATIONS APPLICANT: 1. MEENAKSHI ACADEMY OF HIGHER EDUCATION AND RESEARCH 2. MEENAKSHI AMMAL DENTAL COLLEGE AND HOSPITAL ABSTRACT The present invention discloses a process for preparing a multi-compartment mucoadhesive hydrogel comprising: a. individually washing, homogenizing, heating, cooling, filtering, and centrifuging fresh sweet, sour, red, and black tamarind pulp with distilled water to obtain corresponding tamarind extracts; b. independently mixing each extract with aqueous sodium selenite solution, incubating until a pale-yellow to orange-red color change, centrifuging, and washing to obtain corresponding tamarind-derived selenium nanoparticles; c. independently encapsulating the nanoparticles in biocompatible vesicles comprising lecithin, cholesterol, chitosan, sodium alginate, and hyaluronic acid by thin-film hydration and ionic gelation using calcium chloride to obtain corresponding nanovesicles; and d. dissolving chitosan, sodium alginate, gelatin, carbopol, triethanolamine, hyaluronic acid, and polyvinyl alcohol, crosslinking with calcium chloride and genipin, and engineering four physically distinct compartments containing, respectively, sweet, sour, red, and black tamarind-derived nanovesicles, thereby obtaining the multi-compartment mucoadhesive hydrogel.
