Abstract: TITLE: A PROCESS OF PREPARING A RAPID-ACTING BIOACTIVE CHEMICO-MECHANICAL CARIES REMOVAL COMPOSITION APPLICANT: 1. MEENAKSHI ACADEMY OF HIGHER EDUCATION AND RESEARCH 2. MEENAKSHI AMMAL DENTAL COLLEGE AND HOSPITAL ABSTRACT The present invention discloses a process for preparing a bioactive chemico mechanical caries removal composition comprising: a. dissolving low molecular weight chitosan in acetic acid to yield a chitosan solution adjusted to predetermined pH and adding bromelain enzyme into the chitosan solution under stirring to obtain a mixture; b. introducing sodium tripolyphosphate dropwise into the mixture under continuous magnetic stirring to obtain bromelain loaded chitosan nanoparticles suspension; c. freeze drying the nanoparticle suspension with maltose as cryoprotectant under vacuum pressure to obtain a stable lyophilised powder; d. reconstituting the lyophilised powder into carbopol gel and neutralizing to predetermined pH and adjusted to viscosity by mechanical stirring during neutralization with triethanolamine to obtain gel base; e. incorporating propolis dissolved in ethanol into the gel base under stirring to obtain a formulation; f. dispensing the formulation into sealed single use syringes or unit dose capsules protected from light and moisture, to obtain bioactive chemico mechanical caries removal composition.
