Abstract: TITLE: A PROCESS OF PREPARATION OF HYDROGEL-BASED PROBIOTIC PET FOOD FOR ENHANCED DIGESTIBILITY AND GUT MICROBIOME SUPPORT APPLICANT: MEENAKSHI ACADEMY OF HIGHER EDUCATION AND RESEARCH ABSTRACT The present invention discloses a process of preparation of a hydrogel-based probiotic bioactive pet food composition comprising: a. fermenting mushroom protein in aqueous medium to obtain a fermented protein hydrolysate; b. dissolving pumpkin pectin in warm water under continuous stirring until gelation occurs to obtain hydrogel matrix; c. incorporating the said protein hydrolysate, coconut medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil and bone broth mineral concentrate into the said hydrogel matrix while stirring to homogeneity and cooling the mixture to obtain cooled hydrogel matrix; d. adding live encapsulated probiotic strains consisting of Saccharomyces boulardii into the said cooled hydrogel matrix and molding into soft gel pods; e. stabilizing the said pods by refrigeration or by vacuum-sealing to obtain hydrogel-based probiotic pet food composition. The present invention also discloses a hydrogel-based probiotic bioactive pet food composition, prepared by the process as described above.
