MEENAKSHI MEDICAL COLLEGE HOSPITAL AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE ABSTRACT The present invention disclose a process for preparing an herbal medicated soap formulation comprising the steps of: a. washing fresh leaves of Acalypha indica (Kuppaimeni) and shade drying followed by pulverizing into powder and subjecting the powder to aqueous extraction by maceration in distilled water with intermittent stirring, and filtering to obtain Acalypha indica extract; b. mixing oils consisting of coconut oil, olive oil, castor oil, and palm oil or shea butter, and heating to form a soap base; c. dissolving sodium hydroxide (NaOH) in distilled water to form lye, cooling the lye solution and adding the cooled lye solution to the soap base under continuous stirring to form a saponification mixture; d. adding the Acalypha indica extract into the saponification mixture and pouring into molds, allowing solidification, cutting into bars, and curing the bars in a dry ventilated area to obtain herbal medicated soap formulation.
