Abstract: TITLE: A PROCESS OF PREPARATION OF FUCOIDAN-LOADED BIODEGRADABLE COLLAGEN MEMBRANE FOR GUIDED PERIODONTAL TISSUE REGENERATION APPLICANT: DR B BHUVANESWARI ABSTRACT The present invention discloses a process of preparation of fucoidan-loaded biodegradable collagen membrane for guided periodontal tissue regeneration. The process comprises dissolving collagen in acetic acid under gentle stirring followed by pH adjustment using sodium hydroxide to obtain a collagen solution and subsequently crosslinking the collagen solution to form a collagen matrix. Fucoidan dissolved in distilled water and incorporated into the collagen matrix followed by pH adjustment to obtain a fucoidan-incorporated collagen solution. The resulting solution is cast into pre-cleaned molds of predetermined thickness and subjected to controlled freezing conditions to obtain porous frozen molds. The frozen molds are subsequently lyophilized under vacuum with gradual increase in shelf temperature to obtain a dried membrane. The obtained membrane is sterilized by ultraviolet exposure or ethanol washing followed by vacuum drying, trimming into predetermined dimensions, and storage under sterile conditions to obtain the fucoidan-loaded biodegradable collagen membrane.
