MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641059610 A) filed by Dr. Veena Babu Kupati; and Dr. Prashant G. Jadar on May 11, 2026, for A Process For The Preparation Of Gairika Derived Iron Oxide Nanoparticles Using Triphala Kashaya And Their Antimicrobial Applications.
Inventors include Dr. Veena Babu Kupati; and Dr. Prashant G. Jadar.
The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a green and sustainable process for the preparation of iron oxide nanoparticles derived from Gairika using Triphala Kashaya as a natural reducing and stabilizing agent. The method involves purification of Gairika, preparation of a phytochemical-rich Triphala decoction, and controlled interaction of both under defined temperature and agitation conditions to facilitate the formation of nanoparticles without the use of hazardous chemical reagents. The synthesized nanoparticles predominantly consist of hematite (a-Fe2O3) and exhibit nanoscale dimensions, defined morphology, and appreciable thermal and physicochemical stability. The presence of bioactive phytoconstituents aids in nanoparticle formation and stabilization. The obtained nanoparticles demonstrate significant antimicrobial activity against selected bacterial and fungal strains, indicating their potential utility in pharmaceutical and biomedical applications. The invention provides an eco- friendly, reproducible, and scalable approach by integrating traditional Ayurvedic principles with contemporary nanotechnology for the development of biocompatible antimicrobial agents. o CD O in o Tf CD CM O S oo o CM o
