MUMBAI, India, June 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411092076 A) filed by Council Of Scientific And Industrial Research An Indian on November 22, 2024, for A Process For The Extraction Of Cysteine Rich Type-Ii Collagen From Jellyfish And Applications Thereof.

Abstract: The present invention provides a process for the preparation of water soluble cysteinerich Type-II collagen that is devoid of fishy smell and its applications in woundrepairboth in oral and topical application. The extraction of cysteine rich water-soluble Type-II collagen is done from Jellyfish Chrysaoracaliparaean abundantly available natural resource along the sea coast. The Type-II collagen extracted by the process of the present invention is devoid of fishy smell and any toxic minerals. The process of the instantinvention helps in obtaining improved yield of collagen by using ultra-sonication. The invention also discloses formulations/compositions containing Type-II jellyfish collagen for improved wound repair.
