MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541026332 A) filed by Pondicherry University on March 22, 2025, for A Process For Production Of Dark Pink-Colored Prodigiosin Pigment From Bacteria.
Inventors include Joseph Selvin; and G. Seghal Kiran.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure pertains to natural pigments. In particular, the present disclosure provides a process of producing a dark pink-colored prodigiosin pigment using an isolated pure bacterial strain Serratia sp. E6 or the mutant thereof in a specific medium under defined set of growth conditions, and further to a downstream process has been developed for the extraction and recovery of said pigment.
