MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541001217 A) filed by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited on January 06, 2025, for A Process For Producing Light Olefins By A Catalytic Cracking Of A Pyrolysis Oil.
Inventors include Mishra, Hemant; Kumari, Sanju; Kumar, Pramod; Kukade, Somanath; Selvarasu, Arul Karthi; Sundaram, Sriram; and Maheshwari, Vipul Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for a catalytic cracking of a pyrolysis oil. Particularly, the present invention relates to an easy, an economic, a less energy intensive and an efficient process for a catalytic cracking of a waste pyrolysis oil for producing light olefins. The present invention also relates to a composite hierarchical catalyst for converting waste plastic pyrolysis oil into olefins. More particularly, the process of catalytic cracking and the composite hierarchical catalyst of the present inventions enables conversion of the waste plastic pyrolysis oil back into plastic monomers/ light olefins, thereby promoting a circular economy by reducing dependency on virgin raw materials (plastic monomers) for producing plastic and minimize environmental impact.
