MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641113484 A) filed by Anurag University on September 22, 2026, for A Process For Preparing An Ethanolic Extract Of Cedrus Deodara (eecd).

Inventors include Dr. Prakash V.; Dr. Vasudha Bakshi; Pasala Mary; and D. Praveen Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a process for preparing an ethanolic extract of Cedrus deodara (EECD) (100) and its cardioprotective potential against myocardial infarction. The process includes collecting fresh Cedrus deodara plant material (102), shade drying (104), coarse powdering (106), Soxhlet extraction using ethanol (108), separation of the extract (110), and evaporation of the solvent under reduced pressure (112). Phytochemical screening of the obtained EECD (100) identifies alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, proteins, saponins and tannins. The cardioprotective activity is evaluated in an isoproterenol-induced myocardial infarction model in Wistar rats, wherein EECD is administered at doses of 100 mg/kg and 200 mg/kg. Evaluation includes oxidative stress markers, cardiac enzymes, heart rate, blood pressure, ECG changes and histological parameters. The EECD demonstrates reduction in oxidative stress and myocardial damage with improvement in cardiac biochemical and physiological parameters. The figure associated with the abstract is Fig. 1.
