MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641101060 A) filed by Vinayaka Mission'S Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, Vinayaka Mission'S; and , Seeragapadi, Salem-, Tamilnadu Salem Tamil on August 21, 2026, for A Process For Preparing Alkaloid-Capped Copper Oxide Nanoparticles Using A Hydro-Alcoholic Mother Tincture, And Nanoparticles, Composites And Nanofibrous Mats Thereof.

Inventors include Vettrivel Arul; and Venkatesan Hariram.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: A process for preparing alkaloid-capped copper oxide nanoparticles is disclosed, in which a copper(II) salt is first precipitated with an alkali to form copper(II) hydroxide, the precipitate is washed free of dissolved salts, and only thereafter is contacted with a hydro- alcoholic mother tincture of an alkaloid-bearing plant drug. Drying is effected below 100 degrees C. No chemical reducing agent and no calcination is employed. The sequence affords a uniform, stable product bearing a nitrogen-rich alkaloid-derived surface layer not obtained by simultaneous addition or by aqueous-extract routes. Composites of the said nanoparticles in a biodegradable polymer exhibit an antibacterial spectrum differing qualitatively from that of the unsupported nanoparticles. FIG. 1 is proposed for publication with the abstract.
