MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641123962 A) filed by Vels Institute Of Science, Technology And Advanced Studies Vistas on October 16, 2026, for A Process For Integrated Extraction And Molecular Validation Of Zanthoxylum Simulans Bioactive Phytochemicals.

Inventors include B. Usharani; and C. Premakumari.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: Disclosed is a process (100) for integrated extraction, identification, computational evaluation, and molecular validation of bioactive phytochemicals derived from Zanthoxylum simulans seeds for potential antidiabetic, antihyperlipidemic, and anticancer applications. The process (100) comprises preparing (102) solvent extracts using hexane, chloroform, methanol, and hydroalcoholic solvents; performing (104) comparative phytochemical and biological screening; selecting (106) a hydroalcoholic extract; characterizing (108) the selected extract using GC-MS and LC-MS; selecting (110) bioactive phytochemicals based on analytical profiling and biological activity; performing (112) computational evaluation using molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulation, and ADMET prediction; prioritizing (114) two bioactive phytochemicals; performing (116) cell-based molecular validation using THLE-2 and HepG2 cell lines through gene expression, protein expression, apoptosis, and cell cycle analyses; and integrating (118) computational and experimental findings to investigate molecular mechanisms associated with potential therapeutic activities. The process (100) facilitates systematic identification, prioritization, and molecular validation of selected bioactive phytochemicals through an integrated sequential workflow.
