Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a process (100) for standardized identification of bioactive phytoconstituents from Coccinia grandis fruit extract using liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS). The process (100) comprises a fruit preparation unit (102) for drying and powdering fruits, a defatting unit (104) for removing non-polar constituents using petroleum ether, an extraction unit (106) for ethanol-based Soxhlet extraction, and a concentration unit (108) for concentrating the extract under reduced pressure. A sample preparation unit (110) prepares the concentrated extract for instrumental analysis. A liquid chromatography unit (112) comprising a C18 column separates the phytoconstituents, while a tandem mass spectrometry unit (114) performs high-resolution mass analysis. An identification unit (116) identifies phytoconstituents based on retention time, accurate mass-to-charge ratio, fragmentation ions and spectral data. The process enables identification of flavonoids, triterpenoids and phenolic acids and provides a reproducible chemical fingerprint of Coccinia grandis fruit extract for pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and quality-control applications.
