Abstract: ABSTRACT A PROCESS FOR GENERATING LIGNIN AND CELLULOSE NANOPARTICLES FROM AKASHMONI (ACACIA AURICULIFORMIS) SAWMILL WOOD DUST The present invention relates to a process for generating lignin nanoparticles and cellulose nanoparticles from sawmill wood dust of Akashmoni (Acacia auriculiformis) wood. The wood dust is subjected to steam explosion extraction in an autoclave to remove hemicellulose, and the solid residue is treated with sodium hydroxide solution to separate a black liquor containing lignin from crude cellulose pulp. Lignin precipitated from the black liquor is dissolved in ethylene glycol, and nitric acid is added dropwise to form lignin nanoparticles. The crude cellulose is bleached, purified and dissolved in a sodium hydroxide, thiourea, urea and water solvent, and nitric acid is added dropwise to form cellulose nanoparticles. Both are purified by dialysis and dried. The cellulose and lignin nanoparticles were obtained in yields of 70.84 ± 0.2% and 68.2 ± 0.3%, with average sizes of 116.86 nm and 125.36 nm, and show antioxidant activity and low hemolytic toxicity.
