Abstract: The present invention provides a process for obtaining natural fibre from Calotropis gigantea through extraction and purification operations configured to obtain fibre in substantially pure form. The extracted fibre exhibits improved fineness and softness and is suitable for further textile processing operations including carding, spinning, twisting and weaving. The separated material undergoes one or more cleaning and purification stages to remove non-fibrous components and obtain fibre of improved purity. The purified fibre is further conditioned to preserve softness and fineness. The resulting fibre possesses characteristics suitable for downstream textile processing.
