MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521080106 A) filed by Dr. Kailas Dhondibhau Datkhile; and Prof. Dr. Sushama Anandrao Kirtane on August 23, 2025, for A Process For Biogenically Synthesizing Silver Nanoparticles.
Inventors include Dr. Kailas Dhondibhau Datkhile; and Prof. Dr. Sushama Anandrao Kirtane.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for biogenically synthesizing silver nanoparticles. The synthesis is carried out by using a composition comprising: -15 wt. % of aqueous extract; 95-85 wt. % of silver nitrate (AgNO3) solution; and 0-100 wt. % of deionized water. The process for synthesis comprises the steps of: preparing aqueous extract of inflorescence of Dioscorea pentaphyla L; mixing the extract with silver nitrate (AgNO3) solution; incubating the mixture; monitoring the formation of silver nanopartilces; and recovering the formed silver nanoparticles. The prepared silver nanoparticles (DP-AgNPs) are subjected to characterization and in vivo studies to evaluate their cytotoxicity effects on human colon cancer cell line (HCT-15).
