MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611099032 A) filed by Manipal University Jaipur on August 17, 2026, for A Privacy-Preserving Personalized Mental Stress Detection And Adaptive Intervention System Using Smartphone Behavioural Biomarkers.
Inventor includes Dr. Virendra Singh.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an adaptive system for mental stress detection and intervention based on behaviour signals on a smartphone, which is personalized and respects privacy. The system comprises a data collection module to collect smartphone interaction data during regular device usage, as well as movement and sensor data, typing dynamics, application usage information, screen activity and contextual behavioural signals, etc.; a digital biomarker generation engine to generate behavioural indicators associates with mental stress; a behavioural adaptation module to continuously adjusts a user specific baseline to account for long-term behavioural changes and enhances the ability of the system to predict the current behaviour; An explainability module to recognise behavioural factors that support stress prediction; a personalized stress inference engine to determine a stress level using machine learning methods; An adaptive intervention module to create personalized recommendations for stress management and well-being. The system ensures privacy by preventing transmission of raw behavioural data to external systems, thereby protecting user data, while enabling continuous real-time monitoring and inference of mental stress directly on the smartphone.
