The remnant energy storage units (104) of the plurality of energy storage units (102, 104) being operable as slave energy storage units (104). The PDU (106) is communicatively coupled with a battery management system (BMS) of the master energy storage unit (102) and is configured to transmit an input to the PDU (106) to operate in one of a plurality of configurations. The plurality of configurations comprising regulation of at least: a communication line between the plurality of energy storage units (102, 104), and a communication line between the power storage assembly (100) and one or more external devices (114, 116, 118).
