Abstract: The invention relates to forensic science, particularly to powder-based materials and methods for latent fingerprint detection. Disclosed is a powder-based formulation comprising a fine powder derived from discarded tea waste by collection, drying at 100°C, grinding, and sieving to obtain a uniform particle size. The resulting tea- waste-derived fingerprint powder is adapted for dusting onto a surface bearing latent fingerprint residue, including sebum, sweat components, and other skin-derived materials, so that the powder adheres preferentially to the residue and produces a developed fingerprint pattern. Also disclosed are methods for preparing the powder, optionally including repeated sieving and storage, and methods for visualizing and lifting latent fingerprints by applying the powder with a dusting brush and lifting the developed fingerprint pattern with tape. A corresponding latent fingerprint visualization system including the tea waste powder, dusting brush, and tape is further provided.
