MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641082287 A) filed by Manipal Academy Of Higher Education on July 03, 2026, for A Portable Vibro-Acoustic Device For Airway Clearance And Method Of Operation Thereof.

Inventors include Sahajanya Srikanth; Mohammed Sameer; and Vineet.

The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.

Abstract: METHOD OF OPERATION THEREOF A portable vibro-acoustic airway clearance device (100) comprises a wearable vest with piezoelectric actuator array (301) configured to be worn by a user, the wearable vest comprising piezoelectric actuators distributed across predefined thoracic regions. A multi-sensor suite (303) acquires physiological parameters of the user and mechanical parameters associated with operation of the wearable vest with piezoelectric actuator array (301). A processor (201), receives sensor data from the multi-sensor suite (303), determines oscillation transmission characteristics therefrom, and dynamically adjusts actuation parameters including oscillation frequency, drive amplitude, and oscillation mode based on the oscillation transmission characteristics, respiratory phase, and detected cough events. The processor (201) further permits therapy delivery when coupling pressure between the wearable vest and the chest wall exceeds a predefined threshold. The system thereby provides closed-loop, sensor-verified, segment-targeted vibro-acoustic airway clearance therapy with real-time adaptive control. (FIG. 4)
