Abstract: The present invention provides a portable medication safety device (100) for evaluating drug–alcohol interaction and controlling medication intake. The device (100) comprises a housing (102), an imaging unit (104), an alcohol sensing unit (106), a user interface (108), a speaker (110), a pill cutting unit (112), and a processing unit (128). The imaging unit (104) acquires medication-related image data for determining medication identification and composition information. The alcohol sensing unit (106) generates an alcohol-related sensor signal corresponding to alcohol concentration in a breath sample. The processing unit (128) processes the composition information, alcohol condition, and user-specific parameters to determine a drug–alcohol interaction risk and generate a medication-intake decision. Upon satisfaction of a dosage-adjustment condition, a driving unit (114) rotates a pinion gear (116) to displace a rack (120) carrying a cutting blade (122) toward a pill platform (126), thereby dividing a pill into portions for controlled medication intake.
