MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511013462 A) filed by Birla Institute Of Technology And Science, Pilani; and Bits Biocytih Foundation on February 17, 2025, for A Portable Electrochemical Device For Real-Time Monitoring Of Electrolyte Levels.
Inventors include Dubey Satish Kumar; Goel Sanket; and Kumar Sanjeet.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The present invention provides a portable electrochemical device for real-time monitoring of electrolyte levels. The device features a multiplex electrode unit, including three working electrodes and a reference electrode, each fabricated with chromium and gold layers using E-beam evaporation, modified with ion-selective membranes for sodium, potassium, and pH detection. It utilizes a potentiometric-based detection unit employing the open-circuit potential (OCP) technique to measure ion concentrations. A miniaturized electronic circuit, including a differential amplifier, low-pass filter, and Arduino Nano microcontroller, processes the data, reduces noise, and converts analog signals to digital. The device incorporates a self-calibrating mechanism to ensure consistent performance without manual recalibration. An OLED display provides real-time measurement results, enhancing usability for on-site electrolyte monitoring.
