MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611109977 A) filed by Baba Farid College Of Engineering And Technology; and Baba Farid College on September 14, 2026, for A Portable Device For Location-Conditioned Heavy-Metal Risk Assessment In Groundwater.
Inventors include Er. Paramjit Kaur; Er. Sonia; Arun Kumar; Rajan; Pinky Kumari; and Er. Rishamjot Kaur.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: Disclosed device (100) comprises a container body (102) defining a water-holding chamber (104), a sample chamber (106), and an electronics chamber (108). The device (100) further comprises a sensor assembly (110) including a pH sensor (112), an electrical conductivity sensor (114), an optical turbidity sensor (116), and a temperature sensor (118) for generating physicochemical measurement data. The device (100) further comprises a location acquisition unit (120) to obtain geographical location information associated with a source location of groundwater. The device (100) further comprises a memory unit (122) to store a trained prediction model and geospatial groundwater information. The device (100) further comprises a processing unit (124) to combine the physicochemical measurement data with location- associated features extracted from a location-specific groundwater profile and processes a resulting input feature set to generate a location-conditioned heavy-metal contamination risk. The device (100) further comprises an output unit (126) to provide a drinking-water safety output. FIG. 1 is the reference figure.
