MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641099097 A) filed by B. S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute Of Science And Technology on August 17, 2026, for A Portable Brain-Computer Interface System For Real-Time Assistive Communication And Device Control.
Inventor includes Dr. S. Syed Rafiammal.
The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a portable brain-computer interface (BCI) system and method for real-time assistive communication and control of one or more external devices. The system comprises an electroencephalography (EEG) signal acquisition module, a signal preprocessing module, a feature extraction module, a signal classification module, a command validation module, a communication interface, and an assistive communication output module. The system acquires EEG signals generated in response to visual stimulation patterns, processes the EEG signals to identify user-intended control commands, and validates the identified commands based on successive classification predictions. A validated control command is transmitted to one or more external devices for performing a corresponding operation while simultaneously generating an assistive communication output. The portable integrated architecture thereby enables real-time conversion of non-invasive EEG signals into validated control commands for assistive communication and external-device control.
