The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a polyherbal anti-dandruff shampoo composition comprising 5–20 mL ethanolic extract of Clitoria ternatea flowers, 3 mL Azadirachta indica extract, 5 mL of Melaleuca alternifolia extract, 3 mL of flaxseed extract, 5 g of sodium lauryl sulphate, 8 mL of coco betaine, 10 mL of coco glucoside, 0.4 g of xanthan gum, 4 mL of glycerine, 6 g of Olivem 1000, 2 g of silk amino acid, 0.2 g of EDTA, 0.3 mL of Germall Plus, 0.5 mL of menthol, citric acid in a quantity sufficient to adjust pH, and purified water in a quantity sufficient to obtain a homogeneous herbal shampoo. The Clitoria ternatea extract is prepared by drying flowers at 50°C for four days, followed by maceration in 96% ethanol and concentration at 40–50°C to obtain a phytochemical-rich extract containing alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, phenols, saponins, glycosides, terpenoids, proteins, carbohydrates and steroids. The formulated shampoo exhibited a pH 5.10–5.35, viscosity of 2450–3550 cP, surface tension of 47–52 dynes/cm, foam volume of 160–225 cm, solid content of 18.20–25.10%, and wetting time of 14.5–30.2 seconds. The composition demonstrated antifungal activity against Malassezia globosa by agar well diffusion assay, producing a mean inhibition zone of approximately 16.5 mm, compared with 11 mm for ketoconazole shampoo under identical experimental conditions. The herbal shampoo composition is useful for topical management of dandruff associated with Malassezia species.
