MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641112675 A) filed by Francis Xavier Engineering College on September 20, 2026, for A Pneumatic-Assisted Braking System For Two-Wheeled Vehicles.

Inventors include Mr. B. James Dawrence; Mr. Jebin Samuvel. A; Mr. Meeyakhan Kms; Mr. S. M. Sunderrajan; and Dr. J. Jeremy Jeba Samuel.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a pneumatic-assisted braking system for a two-wheeled vehicle comprising a rider-operated brake input mechanism, a brake-input sensor, a controller, a pneumatic pressure source, a compressed-air reservoir, a pressure-regulating unit, a pneumatic control valve, a pneumatic brake-assist actuator, and a wheel braking mechanism. The controller receives a braking-input signal and controls the pneumatic control valve to supply regulated compressed air from the reservoir to the pneumatic brake-assist actuator. The actuator converts the pneumatic pressure into an auxiliary mechanical force that supplements the braking force generated through a primary mechanical or hydraulic braking path. A reservoir pressure sensor and an actuator pressure sensor may provide pressure feedback for regulating pneumatic assistance and detecting abnormal operating conditions. The pneumatic pressure source may automatically recharge the reservoir when pressure falls below a predetermined threshold. The pneumatic control valve may assume a non-assist condition during electrical or pneumatic faults, while the primary braking path remains operational. The system thereby provides controlled pneumatic braking assistance while reducing rider effort and maintaining an independent primary braking capability.
