MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621093288 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Gandhinagar on July 31, 2026, for A Plantar Pressure Monitoring System And A Method Thereof.

Inventors include Verma, Ravi Prakash; Saha, Biswajit; and Kain, Harshil.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT A PLANTAR PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM AND A METHOD THEREOF A plantar pressure monitoring system (100) for real-time monitoring and visualization of plantar pressure distribution of a user's foot is disclosed. The system (100) comprises a soft silicone-based insole (102) having a plurality of graphene-based resistive pressure sensors (104) embedded therein and electrically connected through a plurality of conductive thread interconnections (106). An electronics module (112) comprises an analog multiplexer (108), a resistive signal conditioning circuit (110), a microcontroller (122), a rechargeable battery (118), and a wireless communication unit (120). The analog multiplexer (108) sequentially routes sensor signals, while the resistive signal conditioning circuit (110) converts resistance variations into measurable voltage signals. The microcontroller (122) processes the measurable voltage signals to generate processed sensor data, which is transmitted through the wireless communication unit (120) to an external computing device (116). The external computing device (116) generates a real-time plantar pressure heatmap and detects abnormal plantar pressure distribution patterns.
