Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a piston (100) for an internal combustion (IC) engine (100). The piston (100) may include a crown portion and a skirt portion. The piston (100) may include at least one lubricant-distributing coating (200, 300) formed on an outer surface of the skirt portion (100). The coating (200, 300) may include a plurality of vertical channels (201, 202, 301, 302, 303, 304) extending along a length of the skirt portion (100) and an oil retention section (204) formed between an inlet (101a, 202a) and an opposing closed bottom end (101b, 202b). Further, the piston (100) may include at least one transverse channel (203, 305) fluidically coupled with a pair of vertical channels (201, 202) of the plurality of vertical channels (201, 202, 301, 302, 303, 304), wherein the at least one transverse channel (203, 305) has a first corrugated profile.
