MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621089112 A) filed by Shubham Turkar; and Abha Turkar on July 22, 2026, for A Piston-Crank Assembly Employing Scissor Mechanism Or Successional Scissor Mechanism For Piston Engines..

Inventors include Shubham Turkar; and Abha Turkar.

The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: A piston-crank assembly (100) for an internal combustion engine is disclosed, in which the conventional connecting rod or piston rod or both , are replaced by at least one force-transmitting mechanism (140) that is comprised of either a scissor mechanism or a successional scissor mechanism, interposed between the crank pin or crank pins (134, 136) of at least one crankshaft (120, 122), and at least one crosshead pin or gudgeon pin(190)of the piston (112) within a cylinder (110); in a preferred embodiment the mechanism is driven by twin parallel counter-rotating crankshafts coupled by a synchronizing gear set (124). The successional scissor mechanism (140) comprises two or more scissor mechanism sets (150, 160, 170, 180), each having one or more central pins (154) and one or more intra-set linkages (148); adjacent sets being coupled by one or more inter-set linkages (158) which trigger each succeeding set to commence extension only after the immediately preceding set has attained a predetermined extension, and which may further limit the minimum length of the sets.
