MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641092039 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Hyderabad on July 29, 2026, for A Photo-Crosslinkable Hydrogel For 3d Bioprinting And A Method Therof.

Inventors include Reshma I R; and Subha Naryan Rath.

The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a photo-crosslinkable hydrogel for 3D printing comprising, a decellularized extracellular matrix (UdECM) derived from human umbilical cord tissue; methacrylate functional groups covalently attached to the UdECM to form a methacrylated umbilical cord-derived decellularized extracellular matrix (UdECM-MA); one or more cells encapsulated within the UdECM-MA matrix; and a photo-initiator. The present invention also provides a method of preparing a hydrogel. The resulting hydrogel demonstrates improved mechanical stability, structural fidelity, shape retention, controlled swelling behavior, and interconnected porous architecture compared to native umbilical cord-derived extracellular matrix hydrogels.
