MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641000689 A) filed by Devadeth S G on January 04, 2026, for A Permissioned Distributed Ledger Based Pre-Authorized Refund Settlement System Using Hybrid Post-Quantum Cryptography.
Inventor includes Devadeth S G.
The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a permissioned distributed ledger based automated refund settlement system configured as an integration layer for existing digital payment platforms. The system addresses transaction failure scenarios in which funds are successfully debited from a sender account but are not credited to an intended recipient account within a predefined time window. Upon detection of such failure, the system generates a unique cryptographic refund authorization hash that is deterministically bound to transaction parameters including transaction identifier, sender account identifier, transaction amount, timestamp, and refund status. The generated refund authorization hash is recorded on a permissioned or personalized blockchain network operated by authorized payment ecosystem participants, thereby enabling high throughput, low latency, and controlled access. Refund authorization records are digitally signed using post-quantum secure digital signature algorithms including CRYSTALS-Dilithium, while secure communication and cryptographic key establishment between system components and ledger nodes are achieved using post-quantum key encapsulation mechanisms including CRYSTALS-Kyber. This hybrid cryptographic approach ensures long-term security and resilience against cryptographic threats posed by quantum computing advancements. Once predefined failure conditions are satisfied, the system automatically initiates refund execution through existing payment rails without manual intervention or modification of the underlying transaction infrastructure of the digital payment platform. Due to the use of a permissioned distributed ledger architecture and automated refund orchestration, refund settlement is completed within a significantly reduced time frame of minutes, typically three to four minutes. The invention enhances refund efficiency, security, auditability, and scalability, and is applicable across multiple digital payment platforms handling electronic money
