Inventor includes Aadya Kanchan.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: A Passive Vortex-Driven Drainage Insert for Accelerated Water Removal in Urban Surface Inlets The present invention relates to the field of civil or municipal engineering. It particularly solves the problem of blocking of urban drainage systems during heavy rains and flooding. The invention provides a passive vortex-driven drainage insert (100) comprising a tangential inlet (101), a cone-frustum body (104), an interior spiral groove(102), and an outlet (103). The device, when inserted between an existing grate and underground pipe, enhances discharge by upto 89%. Another embodiment of the invention is a parallel vortex (200) comprising a tangential inlet (201), an interconnect (205) an interior conical vane (202), and twin outlets (203). The said parallel vortex, when inserted between an existing grate and underground pipe, enhances discharge by upto 94% The devices are retrofittable with existing perpendicular grate (301) or parallel (horizontal) grate (401).
