MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611090372 A) filed by Graphic Era Deemed To Be University on July 24, 2026, for A One-Pot Sol-Gel Process For Preparing Stable Sio2, Tio2, Al2o3, And Zro2 Nano-Sols.

Inventors include Neha Bhatt; Adeeba Mirza; and Abhilasha Mishra.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The invention relates to sol-gel synthesis of metal oxide nano-sols and discloses a one-pot process in which tetraethoxyorthosilicate, titanium isopropoxide, aluminum nitrate nonahydrate, or zirconium (IV) isopropoxide is introduced into a single reaction system containing a suitable solvent, water, and a base catalyst under mild-basic conditions. In the same reaction medium, hydrolysis generates hydroxyl-bearing intermediates and condensation forms oxide-bonded nanostructures comprising Si-O- Si, Ti-O-Ti, Al-O, or Zr-O linkages, thereby retaining SiO2, TiO2, Al2O3, or ZrO2 nanoparticles as a stable colloidal sol in a liquid medium. The process advances the art by simplifying nano-sol preparation while improving colloidal stability and reproducibility. The resulting stable metal oxide nano-sols are suitable for coating and surface modification applications, including superhydrophobic, self-cleaning, and anti-microbial coating systems.
