Abstract: Every Software is an intellectual property and are susceptible to various types of attacks. Unauthorized usage of a software can be termed as piracy and is a major issue faced by the software developers. Software for Android devices - Android apps, especially paid versions are highly vulnerable to brute-force attack. Hackers/intruders attempts to break into paid versions of Android app, to enjoy/explore all features of the licensed versions. Intruders will attempt Brute-force attack to try various combinations of letters, numbers and special characters to find a password to unlock paid version of an Android app. To address this security breach, a novel technique is proposed here, where the intruder/hacker is directed to a virtual twin of the home screen, after ‘n’ number of failed attempts to login. In this Android app, there is one main screen (Main Screen) and two home screens (Home Screen X and Home Screen Y). Whenever a user opens the Android app, he/she will be prompted to enter the password. A genuine user who possess a password will be directed to Home Screen X. After ‘n’ number of failed attempts, a hacker will be directed to a virtual twin of Home Screen X, to pretend a successful login. In this way hackers will be redirected to a “Dummy Home” screen preventing any attempt to try various character combination to break the password.
