Abstract: The invention provides a sustainable process for producing biodegradable plastics from renewable feedstocks such as starch, cellulose, and agricultural waste. The process involves pretreating the feedstocks through mechanical grinding and enzymatic hydrolysis to convert them into fermentable sugars, which are then fermented by specific microorganisms to produce monomers like lactic acid or polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA). These monomers are polymerized to form biodegradable polymers, which are processed into plastic products using conventional manufacturing techniques. The resulting biodegradable plastics decompose naturally into non-toxic components like water, carbon dioxide, and biomass under environmental conditions, offering an eco-friendly alternative to conventional plastics. This method supports a circular economy by reducing reliance on fossil fuels and minimizing plastic waste.
