Abstract: ABSTRACT TITLE: A NOVEL POLYHERBAL ANTIMICROBIAL CREAM FOR THE TREATMENT AND MANAGEMENT OF ORAL ULCERS The present invention relates to a novel polyherbal antimicrobial cream for the treatment and management of oral ulcers, comprising a synergistic combination of standardized hydroalcoholic extracts of Curcuma longa rhizomes (2.0% w/w), Aloe barbadensis leaf gel (10.0% w/w), Psidium guajava leaves (3.0% w/w) and Glycyrrhiza glabra roots (2.5% w/w), dispersed in an oil-in-water emulsion base of stearic acid, cetyl alcohol, glycerin, methyl and propyl parabens and purified water. The cream exhibits broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against Streptococcus mutans, Staphylococcus aureus, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Candida albicans and Porphyromonas gingivalis with zones of inhibition of 19, 17, 16, 15 and 17 mm respectively, mucosa-compatible pH (6.5–6.8), good spreadability and stability, providing a safe, non-irritant natural alternative for treating oral ulcers.
