MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511022325 A) filed by Icar- Indian Institute Of Pulses Research on March 12, 2025, for A Novel Growth Medium For Optimum Production Of Secreted Proteins Of Bacillus Thuringiensis And Method Of Preparation.

Inventors include Dr. Sujayanand, G. K.; Dr. R. Jagadeeswaran; Dr. Anup Chandra; Dr. Vaibhav Kumar; and Dr. G. P. Dixit.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present invention pertains to a novel composition of media designed for the optimal production of secreted proteins in Bacillus thuringiensis, and its method of preparation thereof. The composition comprises of defatted seed meal powder, 0.1M potassium phosphate buffer, and a carbon source. This media facilitates the simultaneous production of proteins such as VIP3A and CRY1I, which possess both insecticidal and nematicidal properties. Additionally, the media is more cost- effective as compared to traditional media.
