Abstract: ABSTRACT A NOVEL FIXTURE AND METHOD FOR HARDENING OF TORSION BAR/LENGTHY COMPONENTS IN HORIZONTAL FURNACE The present invention relates to a novel fixture and method for hardening lengthy steel components in a horizontal furnace to prevent bending and distortion. The fixture comprises a lower and upper corrugated plate assembly made of heat-resistant steel, each having semi-cylindrical slots to cradle and clamp the component firmly. A locking mechanism secures the upper plate to the lower plate, allowing rapid transfer between furnace and quenching medium without compromising rigidity. The process involves preheating, heating to a specified hardening temperature, oil quenching, and tempering. By maintaining components horizontally throughout, the invention achieves uniform mechanical properties and substantially eliminates post-hardening straightening steps.
