Abstract: The present invention relates to a herbal oral care composition comprising a bioactive seed extract derived from Aegle marmelos. The invention particularly focuses on the development of a natural antimicrobial agent for use in formulations such as toothpaste, mouthwash, gel, or powder for maintaining oral hygiene. The seed extract of Aegle marmelos is obtained through solvent extraction methods and is rich in phytoconstituents including flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, and phenolic compounds. The extract demonstrates significant antimicrobial activity against oral pathogens associated with dental caries and periodontal diseases, including Streptococcus mutans, Enterococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus, and Lactobacillus species. The formulated composition provides effective inhibition of microbial growth, reduction in plaque formation, and prevention of oral infections while offering a biocompatible and plantbased alternative to conventional synthetic antimicrobial agents. Additionally, the composition may exhibit antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, enhancing overall oral health. The invention thus provides a safe, cost- effective, and efficient herbal formulation for preventive and therapeutic oral care applications.
