Abstract: ABSTRACT “A NON-AQUEOUS TOPICAL GEL COMPOSITION AND A PROCESS FOR PREPARATION THEREOF” The present invention relates to a non-aqueous topical gel composition comprising benzoyl peroxide and a process for preparation thereof. The invention provides a substantially water-free topical gel matrix formulated using pharmaceutically acceptable non-aqueous solvents, gelling agents, stabilizers, and topical excipients suitable for incorporation of benzoyl peroxide. The non-aqueous gel system minimizes moisture-related degradation of benzoyl peroxide and improves formulation stability during storage. The process comprises preparation of a non-aqueous gel base followed by controlled incorporation and homogenization of benzoyl peroxide to obtain a stable topical gel composition. The developed formulation demonstrates suitable homogeneity, viscosity, spreadability, extrudability, drug content uniformity, and in-vitro drug release characteristics. The invention provides a stable topical delivery platform particularly suitable for acne therapy and for formulation of moisture-sensitive pharmaceutical active ingredients.
