Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a nanostructured electrolyte and electrode material system for a low-temperature solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) (100). The system (100) comprises a fuel inlet arrangement (102) configured to supply fuel, an air inlet arrangement (104) configured to supply oxygen-containing gas, a nanostructured electrolyte layer (106) comprising doped cerium oxide material for oxygen ion conduction, a nanostructured anode layer (108) comprising nickel-based doped ceria composite material for catalytic fuel oxidation, and a nanostructured cathode layer (110) comprising mixed ionic and electronic conducting ceramic material for oxygen reduction reaction. The system (100) comprises an electrode-electrolyte interface layer (112) configured to enhance charge transfer, a current collector arrangement (114) configured to collect generated electrical energy, and a high-temperature furnace-assisted material processing arrangement (116) configured for calcination and sintering of materials. The developed system (100) provides improved ionic conductivity, catalytic activity, power density, durability, and efficient SOFC operation at reduced temperatures.
