The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a nanoparticulate iron-delivery composition comprising superparamagnetic magnetite (FE3O4) nanoparticles of core diameter 8 to 20 nanometers surface-functionalized with an inner citrate anchor and an outer polysaccharide coating selected from dextrin, maltodextrin or inulin, formulated as a redispersible spray-dried powder with mannitol as matrix former. The composition delivers an elemental iron payload of 45 to 65 percent by weight, exhibits a zeta potential of -25 to -45 millivolts, saturation magnetization of 60 to 80 emu per gram, and releases at least 70 percent of iron within two hours under simulated gastric conditions. In anaemic Wistar rats, oral administration at 3 mg Fe per kilogram body weight per day for 14 days restored haemoglobin from 5.2 to 13.1 grams per decilitre, corresponding to a relative biological efficacy of 158 percent compared to ferrous sulphate, with excellent tolerability and pharmaceutical stability suitable for large-scale manufacture.
